| In
1998 brothers, Ben and Mario Barletta established Australian Domaine
Wines (ADW) as a premium South Australian wine company with a focus
on developing individually charactered regional wines. Up to that
stage they had over 10 years experience as very successful retail
wine merchants in Adelaide . It was there in 1993 at that they started
producing their own Clare Grenache under the Barletta label which
spawned the ADW concept after the sale of their retail business.
Since then ADW and its associated joint venture companies have become
red wine dominant by design, although from selected vintages a very
small volume of Clare Valley Riesling is made under the Barletta
label.
Since
1998 ADW has established vineyard and winery contracts within
South Australia 's premier winegrowing regions with wines being
made from Mclaren Vale, Barossa Valley , Clare Valley , Langhorne
Creek and the Limestone Coast .
ADW's
principal export markets have been the USA, Germany, Japan, Switzerland,
Canada and New Zealand with the UK hopefully coming online in
2007. Domestic distribution is being developed from late 2006.
Today
ADW comprises the Barletta brothers Ben and Mario along with Ken
James and Rory O'Neill both of whom joined he company as directors
in 2002.
